Product Description
The Drinkwell Platinum pet fountain is the ultimate in style and design. This all new design utilizes the same patented free falling stream of water as the original Drinkwell which entices pets to drink more. The Platinum features a new snap on lid to prevent accidental removal, a pre-filter to catch large particles before they reach the motor and a new submersible pump for nearly silent operation.

5 out of 5 stars Best on the Market, and an Improvement over the Original Design   February 26, 2008

Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R3SNB22Z8N2TM3 We bought our first Drinkwell in 2001 for our cat Wilson, and were so impressed with the product that we became dealers. We have been carrying the Drinkwell line ever since, and the new Platinum version is the best they have made.

5 out of 5 stars This is certainly NEW AND IMPROVED !!   January 28, 2007

Actually didn't pay attention to anything other than buying another Drinkwell Fountain. Extremely pleased with it, just wanted one more. When the Platinum Fountain came, I liked it, then set it up and was impressed with the improvements. Holds more water, easier to put together after cleaning, and much quieter. The cats took about 20 seconds to get over being scaredy cats, and love it. Glad I have it. Will probably by another one.

5 out of 5 stars VIDEO of ONE OF MY FOUR CATS LOVING THIS FOUNTAIN   January 17, 2009

Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R3Q1CBW7A4M2KL 02/01/10 Update:

I now have four cats (as of January 2009) and they all love this fountain.

This is my cat Rachel; she is the reason I got this fountain because should would not drink standing water. Cats usually prefer moving water to drink. When you feed only hard food, it is especially important that they drink more because there is no moisture in their meal. If they don't they could develop urinary tract problems.

What I like about this fountain is that the filter lasts 3 months (about 2 months if you have a multiple cat household). It also has a large reservoir. As a result, I only have to fill the tank about 2-3 times a week for my 4 cats. I also make sure I clean the entire unit weekly. The pump should also be taken apart and cleaned periodically, which is easy to do as shown in the instructions. I usally clean the pumping mechanism out every two weeks.

What I also like about this fountain is that it has a grate in front of the pumping mechanism that prevents a lot of hair from getting into the pump. You just lift the grate up every few days to clean off the hair.

Rachel likes her water chilled and the other cats have gotten use to this as well. So you can put ice cubes into the tray and the cats will have ice water in a few minutes. This is refreshing in warm weather; but for my cats I do it all year long because Rachel requests it.

There is also an "off-use" benefit to this fountain. One time I burned my fingers and (after putting ice cubes in the water) held my fingers under this fountain for a couple of hours until the swelling subsided. This allowed me not to waste water and to keep the temperature on my hands cold.

5 out of 5 stars One of the best things we've done for our cats   October 23, 2007

In our household, you couldn't go to the bathroom, brush your teeth, or just comb your hair in front of the mirror without one of our two Siamese mutts jumping up and asking for a "Sink Drink." Usually, both Reese and Heather had to have a turn at the faucet.

Getting them their own fountain allows us to use our sink mostly on our own and gives all four of our feline family fresh water all the time. Reese, who likes the water straight from the fountain, will drink at the most aerated top of the stream, while his sister Heather drinks near the bottom.

Getting your cats to drink fresh, clean water daily keeps them healthy. The fountain reduces having to deal with bowls. Cleanup is easy and the animals are well worth it.

NOTE: the filters are pretty common size pool filters, which you can get cheaper at the aquarium store!

I just got my first kitten ever about a month ago. She is so much fun and so energetic, and I only want the best for her. I got her one of those water bowls with the attached jug at the top of it, but I found that I had to clean it so often because of the stagnant water. And Cleo (that's her name) just didn't even want to touch that water at some points. I guess it wasn't fresh anymore.

So, one of my friends who has a cat swore to me that I had to get Cleo a water fountain. I started researching different brands and came across Drinkwell and Petmate. I compared both fountains, read each product's customer reviews, and settled on purchasing this model, mainly because the cheaper model with the additional reservoir would end up costing about 5 to 10 dollars less than this supposed "better" version, so I went ahead and splurged for the kitty's sake.

I set it up and she just adores it. She plays with the running water with her paw and loves to drink directly from the spout. She is drinking more than she ever was before, and that means a healthy kitty and a happy mommy :)
